[social_share/]Have you ever wondered what worship in heaven is going to be like? I admit I don’t think about it as much as I should. But recently I had an experience that really got me thinking about how we as believers will worship the Father for all that He has done for us through Jesus Christ.
Each year J.P. Morgan Chase holds an annual awards dinner and celebration for the top ten percent of their branch managers. My wife for the past two years has been blessed to manage a branch that has finished in this top tier. Recently we returned from this annual celebration.
It is an unbelievable time, one of those experiences that you almost have to be there to experience the full effect. Of course there is a nice fancy dinner where each person is personally served their meal and your water glass is never empty for very long. But the real highlight of the night is when the actual awards celebration begins.
It really is an all out assault on your senses. There is a fantastic light show, the music is loud and energetic. A member of upper management introduces each person who is being recognized on this special evening. And boy is he is loud and full of excitement! Whether your name begins with a or z you are going to be introduced with the same amount of unbridled enthusiasm!
The top management forms two rows from the back of the room all the way to the front. As each person’s name is announced they are enthusiastically escorted up through this corridor all the while receiving high fives from those on either side of them. I’m sure it’s a great thrill for each person who get recognized for their achievements.
As I set there watching this take place I couldn’t help but think to myself this is probably a small taste of what the celebration in heaven is going to be like. Only in heaven the focus of the celebration will be on the one who has redeemed us. John gives us a glimpse into the ultimate celebration in Revelation chapter five. John wrote…
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Revelation 5:11-14 ESV)
As exciting as the night of celebration J.P. Morgan Chase provided for their employees it doesn’t even begin to compare to the celebration that is going to take place in heaven in when the bride of Christ is called out of this world to be once and for all united with her bridegroom Jesus Christ! This will be a time of incredible joy and eternal celebration! Having experienced a small taste of this on earth I can’t wait to get to heaven to experience joy and a celebration unlike anything we have ever known!
But Christian do you realize that you don’t have to wait until you get to heaven to begin to experience this kind of joy? Through Christ we can begin to fulfill the purpose for which we were created – namely to glorify God and to ENJOY Him forever! Why not take the time to think about that? Better yet why not take the time and make the effort to pursue your joy right now!
