Easter is right around the corner, a week from this Sunday, and there are a few ways you can prepare your heart to celebrate The Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
1) Read the Easter Story
2) Read Desiring God’s Holy Week Devotionals
Desiring God, the teaching ministry of John Piper, has produced a devotional guide to Holy Week. Called “Love to the Uttermost” this free e-book is available on DesiringGod.org. Why not lead your family, people on your hall, or your friends in dedicating time to think through the significance of Holy Week before Easter Sunday?
3) Reflect on The Atonement
At Easter, we do celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the grave – signifying that God the Father approved His Son’s sacrifice. This doctrine is called “substitutionary atonement”, meaning that Christ was our substitute to atone for our sins. If the word “atonement” is strange to you, consider reading Ben’s blog post on the subject.
4) Articulate the Gospel
Take time to articulate the Gospel, whether with your kids, family members, friends, or even privately in a journal. We are only able to preach the Gospel because Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. If you aren’t sure yourself what “The Gospel” is, you may find Matt Chandler’s book The Explicit Gospel enlightening.

5) Gather With Other Believers
The Death and Resurrection of Christ is meant to be celebrated and shared in community. If you’re in the Madison County, Kentucky area and are looking for a church to attend this Easter Sunday, consider yourself warmly welcome to attend Grace Community Church.
We hope you’ll join with us, or another Christ-exalting congregation, to honor Jesus as our Risen Lord this Easter!
