We asked several members of our church family to answer this question:
“Why do you celebrate Christmas?”
Here’s what they had to say!
“I celebrate Christmas because it is a visible demonstration of God’s promises kept. Therefore my faith in God is strengthened and my ability to believe all of God’s promises are/is infinitely multiplied.”
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
“I celebrate Christmas because nothing is more important than our Lord’s birth. I give gifts, not because the focus is on the material, rather, it reminds me of God’s gift to us.”
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
“It’s the joy of giving because God gave us His precious gift, Jesus Christ.”
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
I celebrate Christmas because I hope that The Spirit can work through me to change the mindset of others, helping them to focus on the real meaning of CHRISTmas. I think idolatry changes forms over time and today there is just as much as in Bible times. Christmas is an incredible opportunity for us especially if we as Christians can get past this rubbish and let people know whats really important.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth…”
“We spend time remembering and discussing Jesus coming to earth to redeem his people. We want to pass along the wonder and joy of this season, while creating life long memories.”
