What you are willing to fight for reveals a lot about you.
We probably don’t consciously stop and ask ourselves what it is that we are willing to fight for, but when it comes to our walk with Christ maybe we should ask ourselves are we willing to fight?

This morning we are going to begin our study of the closing thoughts of Paul to the believers at Ephesus. Paul begins this section with the word “Finally”. If we are not careful we may read the word finally and just ever so slightly let our attention wane but to do so would be to miss out on some very important and vital information that is crucial to us as believers.

It’s easy at this time of the year to read the Christmas story and get lost in the sentiment of the season. It’s easy to read the accounts of the birth of Christ and feel nostalgic about our memories of Christmas. That’s not necessarily wrong, but the Christmas story should make us feel more than simply nostalgic. As we meditate on these passages we should be filled with wonder and awe with what is one of the most important events in the history of our world. We should be amazed as we read of the unfolding of God’s plan and that you and I are a part of His plan and are directly impacted by the Advent. Read More→

The world likes to look at Christmas time as a season for miracles. Not Biblical miracles mind you, but the kind of miracles that makes for good made for tv movies. Miracles like a family gets stranded in a dying out of the way town and they rally the town to put on a Christmas show and miraculously bring back the Christmas spirit and of course as they all start to sing it begins to snow! Last week we examined Paul’s word to the wives. This week we are going to turn our attention to what Paul has to say to the husbands.
What Paul has to say to the husbands is short and sweet, and impossible to do apart from Christ. Everything that Paul says to the husbands is said in the context of Jesus Christ and his relationship to the church.
How is the Christian home supposed to function?
We hear and see so much about dysfunctional homes. ABC has a hit show called “Modern Family” of course their version of the family looks nothing like the Bible’s concept of the family and the home. From a biblical perspective the modern family is truly a dysfunctional home.
The home like the other areas of our life are to be be Christ honoring and God glorifying. The problem is that homes are made up of sinners. Sinners all share similar traits of selfishness and self centeredness. Our selfishness, the desire to have our own way inevitably leads to conflict in the home. Read More→
